NEWS -July 18 2008-  Excursion to Córdoba

The price of the excursion to Córdoba of Saturday 13 has been definitively fixed in 70 Euros per person to be payed in cash at the Registration Desk in Granada.
We will leave Granada at 8:30 a.m. and will come back at 12:00 p.m. approximately. Lunch will be served in a typical restaurant in Antequera and a "tapeo" dinner in a typical taberna in Cordoba.
Those registered delegates who are not planning to attend under these circumstances but had already registered for the excursion are kindly requested to tick on the "no" key at the corresponding place in the web page.

Rationale

The idea of this conference is to join specialists of both cultural astronomy studies and modern cosmology in a single forum where ideas about the comprehension about the nature of the Universe could be interchanged, analyzed, revised or even challenged. The conference will be held in Granada (Spain) from September 7th to 14th, 2008, including excursions and arrival (7) and departure (14) dates. Please have a look at the 1st announcement.

The conference is organized by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía and under the patronage of the European Society for Astronomy in Culture (SEAC).

There will not be later registration!

Lodging

As you may know, Granada is one the most important tourist resorts in Spain. As a consequence, there are Hotels and Residences of all colours, likes and costs. The organization will not take care of the lodging process! A list of recommended facilities will be offered by the LOC and the delegates are expected to make the appropriate reservations by themselves at their own responsibility. It is worth noting that you can find very good offers through the Internet (see e.g. http://www.booking.com), even better than those that we might be suggesting in our list. The Parque de las Ciencias is within walking distance (10 to 20 minutes) of most hotels in the centre of the city. Take your best chances!

Grants (already closed)

The organization will try to raise some funds for a certain number of Registration Fee exceptions, lodging (in an appropriately selected place) assistances and/or travel aids. These will be preferably assigned to senior researchers, colleagues from developing countries or young postdocs and PhD students. A process of selection of these assistances is declared open! Those wishing to get a grant should select the corresponding Grant Form at the end of the first announcement. A pdf file, including that form completed and an abstract of the contribution, should be sent by e-mail before March 1st 2008 to the LOC chairman Juan Antonio Belmonte jba [AT] iac.es
