The IAC is a regular sources of news and advice for the media as well as educational outreach projects and initiatives in Astronomy.
The IAC also produces a number of digital magazines - GTCdigital, caosyciencia and Astrofísica en La Palma.
Other IAC outreach activities include developing education projects, competitions, exhibitions, international campaigns and science weeks
The IAC has exhibited at nearly a hundred events in recent years, ranging from "Madrid por la Ciencia" ("Madrid for Science") to global exhibitions like EXPO 92 and Hanover 2000. It also runs activities for European Science Week every year and was a driving force in the creation of the Cabildo de Tenerife's Museum of Science and the Cosmos..
Every year thousands of people visit the IAC (both the headquarters and the two observatories). In 1991, an empty telescope dome at the Observatorio del Teide was turned into a small visitor centre and a cultural park is shortly to be built adjacent to the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos.
The Office of the Director is responsible for the IAC's cultural education programme.
