Just as its previous years, this institute will collaborate in the activities of the Minifestivals in Grand Canary and in Tenerife, will offer guided visits by schoolchildren to the Teide Observatory, and will present, in the Museum of Science and the Cosmos, the audiovisual series "IAC Investiga" and also the project Niépce: from the negative to the positive" a tribute from astronomy to photography during its 200th anniversary, because it allowed the data content from telescopes to be boosted by a large factor.
The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence, will participate in a range of activities in the framework of the Weeks of Science and Innovation in the Canaries, 2016, organized by the Canary Agency of Research, Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI), of the Canary Government, from 7th to 20th November.
Tribute to photography
On Wednesday, 16th November at 19h and in collaboration with the Museum of Science and the Cosmos of Museums of Tenerife, there will be a presentation at the museum of the project "Niépce: from the negative to the positive". The aim is to pay tribute to photography and to one of its key originators, Joseph Niépce, during teh 200th annivarsary of the first photographic negatives in history. This tribute is from astronomy to photography, which permitted the data content from telescopes to be boosted by a large factor.
