El IAC(Tenerife, España) anuncia UN Contrato PostDoctoral Senior para investigación en (ref. SOL-PD5 ) en “Física Solar”. Este contrato será cofinanciado por el “programa SEVERO OCHOA” (SEV-2011-0187); un prestigioso reconocimiento otorgado recientemente al IAC, como centro puntero de investigación en España, financiado por el Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad.

Los temas de investigación que se desarrollan en el IAC incluyen la mayor parte de los campos de la Astrofísica: cosmología y estructura del Universo, astrofísica galáctica, estructura y evolución estelar, medio interestelar, física solar y estelar, diseño y construcción de telescopios, técnicas de alta resolución espacial, instrumentación infrarroja y óptica y proyectos espaciales.

Tareas: El objeto de este contrato es el desarrollo de investigación independiente en el campo de física solar, en uno o varios de los siguientes campos:

• Física Solar teórica (magnetohidrodinámica,transporte radiativo, espectropolarimetría).
• Modelado numérico en 3D de fenómenos físicos solares. 
• Adquisición y análisis de datos observacionales (espectropolarimetría, heliosismología, relación Sol-Tierra).
• Desarrollo de instrumentación.

El candidato seleccionado realizará las siguientes tareas específicas:

• Desarrollo de una linea de investigación independiente, en alguno de los temas objeto de esta convocatoria.
• Desarrollo de una colaboración activa como investigador post-doctoral, en el marco de la investigación del grupo de Física Solar del IAC, en cualquiera de los temas descritos anteriormente.

Los candidatos presentarán con su solicitud el proyecto de investigación (máximo 3 páginas), que pretenden llevar  a cabo durante su estancia.

El candidato seleccionado tendrá su puesto de trabajo en la sede del IAC en La Laguna. Desarrollará su labor investigadora en un entorno estimulante, con un agradable ambiente de trabajo y se beneficiará del entorno de investigación del IAC, en el cual desarrolla sus actividades uno de los grupos más grandes y activos en Física Solar de Europa, en un rango amplio de temas científicos. Asimismo, el IAC coordina la fase de diseño del “Telescopio Solar Europeo” (http://www.est-east.eu, en el cual están involucrados varios países europeos)  y fue un miembro destacado de la Red Europea SOLAIRE (http://www.solairenetwork.net)

Titulación: Los solicitantes deberán estar en posesión del doctorado en Astrofísica o Física y tener al menos 5 años de experiencia previa postdoctoral a la fecha de publicación de la Resolución Final del Director IAC (conclusión del proceso selectivo, 31/12/2012)

NOTA: Para los aspirantes que hayan realizado su doctorado en el IAC, deberán aportar acreditación de haber desarrollado una actividad profesional en otros centros de investigación, durante al menos un año continuado o de 18 meses acumulados.

Remuneración: El salario íntegro anual será de 34.944 € euros  con retenciones en nómina en concepto de IRPF y Seguridad Social. Asimismo, el contrato incluye el alta en la Seguridad Social del cónyuge e hijos, si fuera el caso.

Gastos para viajes de investigación: Este  puesto está dotado con una bolsa de 4.000 € anuales para viajes relacionados con la actividad investigadora.

Asignación de movilidad: Se incluye en la presente convocatoria una ayuda de incorporación que el candidato seleccionado podrá disfrutar y que contiene los siguientes conceptos: billete de avión (tramitado por el IAC), módulo de estancia de dos semanas (tramitado por el IAC) y módulo de manutención de dos semanas. Esta ayuda de incorporación no podrá superar los 2.000 Euros.

Duración: Hasta cinco años, con fecha de incorporación el 1 de Enero de 2013, o anterior.

Solicitantes no pertenecientes a la UE: Los solicitantes no pertenecientes a un país de la Unión Europea deben tener en cuenta que aunque pueden presentarse, en caso de resultar seleccionados, no podrán suscribir el contrato con el IAC hasta la concesión de la documentación reglamentaria para residir y trabajar en España (tarjeta del NIE).

ENGLISH VERSION

The IAC (Tenerife, Spain) invites applications for ONE Advanced Fellowship (REF SOL-PD5) on “Solar Physics”. This fellowship will be co-funded by the "SEVERO OCHOA PROGRAMME" (SEV-2011-0187); a prestigious recognition awarded to the IAC as a leading research institute in Spain, and supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

Research topics at the IAC include most areas of astrophysics: cosmology and the structure of the Universe, galactic astrophysics, the structure and evolution of stars, the interstellar medium, solar physics, telescope design and construction, high spatial resolution techniques, infrared and optical instrumentation, and astronomical space projects. The IAC has been selected by the Spanish National Government as one of the only eight “Severo Ochoa Centers of Excellence” in research, and the only one in Astrophysics.

The appointed candidate will benefit from the research environment at the IAC, which hosts one of the largest and most active Solar Physics groups in Europe, covering a broad range of scientific topics. In addition, the IAC coordinates the design phase of the "European Solar Telescope" (http://www.est-east.eu, which involves the joint effort of several European countries) and was a leading member of the successful SOLAIRE European Network (http://www.solairenetwork.net).

Tasks: This Advanced Fellowship is being offered for researchers with an excellent record in Solar Physics. They must have at least five years of previous experience as postdoctoral researchers, by the time of conclusion of the selection process and not later than December 31^st, 2012.

The successful candidate will be based at the IAC's headquarters in La Laguna, in a stimulating and keen working environment. S/He will have access to all telescope and supercomputing facilities in the Canary Islands. S/He will be expected to conduct independent research in one or more of the following topics:

• Theoretical Solar Physics research (magnetohydrodynamics, radiation transfer, spectropolarimetry).
• 3D computer modelling of solar physics phenomena.
• Acquisition and analysis of observational data (spectropolarimetry, helioseismology, Sun-Earth connection).
• Instrument development.

Applicants are requested to propose and describe a research project to be carried out during his/her stay, with objectives and tasks related to the aforementioned topics (max 3 pages).

Doctorate : Applicants must have a PhD in Astrophysics or Physics.  They must have at least five years of previous experience as postdoctoral researchers, by the time of conclusion of the selection process and not later than December 31^st, 2012.

NOTE: Applicants who prepared their thesis at the IAC must present written evidence of having spent one continuous year, or 18 accumulated months, in other research institutes.

Remuneration: The gross annual salary is 34,944 €, subject to tax and Social Security deductions. Medical insurance under the Spanish National Health Service will be provided, and will also cover your accompanying partner and children (if relevant).

Research Travel: Each position comes with 4000 € annually for research travel.

Relocation grant: In the present call for applications we include a re-location grant for the successful candidate in which the following items are included: a flight ticket (booked and issued by the IAC), lodging for up to two weeks (organised by the IAC) and per diem for up to two weeks.  This grant will be limited to a ceiling value of 2.000 €.  

Duration: Up to five years in the case of recruitments effective by January 1^st 2013 or earlier.

Non-EU citizens: If you are citizen of a country not belonging to the European Union, you can apply for this position, but if selected, you will not be allowed to sign the contract with the IAC until you obtain the compulsory documentation required to live and work in Spain (NIE card).
