have four science modes (direct imaging, spectroscopy, polarimetry, and
coronagraphy) and two engineering modes (pupil and window imaging) with
capabilities enabled by state-of-the-art design and components.
The current optical layout is shown below. It is not totally frozen until the instrument has passed its Critical Design Review [CDR] in early 2002, thus some numbers may change slightly as the final design and optimisation proceed.
