IAU Symp. 212, Special session on
"Recent advances in nebular diagnostics of hot star atmospheres"
----------------------------------------------------------------
Coordinators: Daniel Schaerer, Sally Oey, Paul Crowther
Main topics:
- the impact of stellar atmosphere models on nebular diagnostics, results
from new line blanketed model atmospheres
- benchmarks for stellar + nebular modeling:
detailed analysis of well studied HII or giant regions providing strong
constraints on stellar and nebular models
- calibrations of stellar and abundance diagnostics
- new results from recent observations (especially ISO)
The main focus of the session will be on new line blanketed model
atmospheres, and the modeling of simple, well constrained HII regions
providing the best tests for combined stellar and photoionisation models.
The aim of the latter is to discuss the methodology, successes and failures
of models of the ionised ISM.
The coordinators intend to publish a summary of the session in the
proceedings of the symposium.
