We present a search and analysis of variable stars in the recently discovered Crater II dwarf galaxy. Based on B, V, I data collected with the Isaac Newton Telescope (FoV˜0.44 deg2), we detected 37 variable stars, of which 34 are bone-fide RR Lyrae stars of Crater II (28 RRab, 4 RRc, 2 RRd). We applied the metal-independent (V, B - V) Period

Variation of the frequencies of very low L p-modes
Radial velocity observations performed using a resonant scattering instrument from 1980 to 1993 at the Observatorio del Teide have been used to calculate the monthly power spectra of very low degree solar oscillations. Cross-correlations among the spectra allow to determine the p-mode frequency shifts along the observed period. These shifts show a

Variation of the low-degree solar acoustic mode parameters over the solar cycle
VIRGO/SPM is a helioseismic sunphotometer on board SOHO that observes the disk-integrated sunlight irradiance at three different colors (red, green, and blue). The data obtained for SPM since the beginning of the SOHO mission, April 1996, to March 2001 have been used to study the differences of the p-mode parameters during the solar activity cycle

Vertical structure of the turbulence above the observatories of the Canary Islands: parameters and statistics for adaptive optics
The statistics of vertical structure of the turbulence affect the complexity of the design and implementation of Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics (MCAO) systems. The operation of these systems could be optimized if the stability of the layers were such as to permit to fix the deformable mirrors (DMs) at specific heights. Moreover, it is desirable to

Very high-energy γ-ray observations of novae and dwarf novae with the MAGIC telescopes
Context. In the last five years the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) instrument detected GeV γ-ray emission from five novae. The GeV emission can be interpreted in terms of an inverse Compton process of electrons accelerated in a shock. In this case it is expected that protons in the same conditions can be accelerated to much higher energies
