  • Constraints on the substellar companions in wide orbits around the Barnard's Star from CanariCam mid-infrared imaging

We have performed mid-infrared imaging of Barnard's Star, one of the nearest stars to the Sun, using CanariCam on the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio Canarias. We aim to investigate an area within 1-10 arcsec separations, which for the 1.83 pc distance of the star translates to projected orbital separations of 1.8-18 au (P > 12 yr), which have not been

  • Constraints on the use of Be I lines for deriving beryllium abundances in late-type dwarf stars.

Beryllium is a key element for constraining mixing processes taking place in the interiors of late-type dwarfs, and this paper investigates the use of neutral beryllium lines to obtain reliable abundances. The best candidate, among other Bei features, is the ^9^Bei λ2348.609A resonance line. Its spectral location, well below the Earth's UV

  • Contribution of the disk emission to the broad emission lines in AGNs: Two-component model

We present an investigation of the structure of the emission line region in a sample of 12 single-peaked Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs). Using the high resolution Hβ and Hα line profiles observed with the Isaac Newton Telescope (La Palma) we study the substructure in the lines (such as shoulders or bumps) which can indicate a disk or disk-like

  • Control system architecture of QUIJOTE multi-frequency instrument

The QUIJOTE-CMB experiment has been described in previous publications. Here we describe the architecture of the control system, hardware and software, of the QUIJOTE I instrument (MFI). It is a multi-channel instrument with five separate polarimeters: two of which operate at 10-14 GHz, two of which operate at 16-20 GHz, and a central polarimeter

  • Cooling of Accretion Heated Neutron Star Transients

Some neutron star X-ray transients (the quasi-persistent transients) spend an unusually long time in outburst, with outbursts lasting years to decades rather than the usual weeks to months. During these outbursts, the neutron star crust gets heated significantly out of thermal equilibrium with the core and thus once back in quiescence, the crust

  • Coordinated Multiwavelength Observation of 3C 66A during the WEBT Campaign of 2003-2004

The BL Lac object 3C 66A was the target of an extensive multiwavelength monitoring campaign from 2003 July through 2004 April (with a core campaign from 2003 September to 2003 December) involving observations throughout the electromagnetic spectrum. Radio, infrared, and optical observations were carried out by the WEBT-ENIGMA collaboration. At
