Description

The second half of this decade is proving to be one of the most exciting periods in the history of Astronomy in the Canary Islands. The role of the IAC as our host institute has continued to be enhanced with the further development of the suite of telescopes that it operates. As reported last year, the ownership of the JKT was transferred from STFC to the IAC and this has now been complemented with the transfer on January 13 of the rest of the Isaac Newton Group of telescopes. Spain is currently the owner of the Observatorios de Canarias’ largest telescopes, however this situation could change dramatically in the future with the proposed installation of the CTA and the possible siting of the Thirty Meter Telescope.
