  • Supercomputer at the Centro de Astrofísica de La Palma
    The team led by the researcher from the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) Mohammad Akhlaghi has obtained a European grant to develop a project focused on the handling of large quantities of data, and the capacity to be able to reproduce any scientific result by another research group.

  • Perseid. Teide Observatory.
    On the nights of August 12th and 13th we will be able to get maximum enjoyment of the Perseids. They will be broadcast live from the Observatory of Oukaimeden (Morrocco) on the sky-live.tv channel on the night of august 12th with the collaboration of the European project STAR4ALL, and from the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC). In addition the citizen science project “Star counters” financed by the Spanish FECYT, will offer an observation proposal for the whole family.

  • Exposición “100 Lunas Cuadradas” en el Centro Nacional de Arte de Tokio
    La muestra de nueve imágenes astronómicas obtenidas desde el Observatorio del Teide continúa su recorrido por Japón durante la ceremonia de fundación del Consorcio de Ciudades de la Ciencia nipón. Esta exposición educativa del Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias también puede visitarse hasta el próximo 31 de julio en la sucursal 1 de Correos de Tenerife.

  • Nayra Rodríguez, IAC astrophysicist divulger, during the presentation of the course "Astronomy Adventure in the Canary Islands"
    The V International Summer Course “Astronomy Adventure in the Canary Islands”, organized by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and designed to train primary and secondary school teachers, has started. For a week 30 teachers from 5 countries will particate in lectures and practical workshops on astronomy, and will gain first hand experience of how work is carried out in the Observatories.

  • Round table of the summer school "Acercate al Cosmos"
    For the fourth successive year the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias and the National Institute for Educational Technology and Teacher Training (INTEF), in collaboration with the International Menéndez Pelayo University (UIMP) has given teachers of secondary and pre-university education the opportunity to get to know the latest discoveries in astrophysics in a course given by professionals, thereby acquiring the tools for using them afterwards in the classroom.
