  • The complex narrow line region in NGC 4151
New narrow band images of NGC 4151, taken in excellent seeing conditions with the 4.2-m William Herschel Telescope on La Palma are presented. These reveal a wealth of detail that can be used to test models for the anisotropy of the narrow-line region.

  • The Constellation-X Science Case
Constellation-X presents a great leap forward in collecting area over current X-ray observatories and will enable high signal-to-noise studies of X-ray sources that are currently too faint for Chandra and XMM-Newton. Thus Constellation-X remains a high-priority mission in reviews by the National Academies and is the next major X-ray observatory

  • The Correlations between Planetary Nebula Morphology and Central Star Evolution: Analysis of the Northern Galactic Sample
Northern Galactic planetary nebulae (PNs) are studied to disclose possible correlations between the morphology of the nebulae and the evolution of the central stars (CSs). To this end, we have built the best database available to date, accounting for homogeneity and completeness. We use updated statistical distances and an updated morphological

  • The Cygnus X region: a nucleosynthesis laboratory for INTEGRAL
The detection of 1.809 MeV gamma-ray line emission from the Cygnus X complex by the COMPTEL telescope is one of the most convincing proves of massive star nucleosynthesis in our Galaxy. The Cygnus X complex is an extremely active nearby region, containing several star forming regions, OB associations and young open star clusters. It houses some of

  • The DENIS database (Epchtein+, 1999)
DENIS is a project to survey the all-southern sky in three wavelength bands (Gunn-i 0.82 μm; J, 1.25 μm; and K_s, 2.15 μm) with limiting magnitudes 18.5, 16.5 and 14.0, respectively. The observations are performed with the 1m-ESO telescope at La Silla (Chile). The DENIS instrument is made up of a 3-channel camera built of commercially available
