The IAC Winter School on exploring the Solar System has been inaugurated

Nov. 7, 2016

The XXVIII Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics, which will last until 16th November, began with the lectures by Sebastien Lebonnois, a researcher at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France, and an expert in the atmospheres of planets such as Venus and Titan.

This morning the XXVIII Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics was inaugurated in the Lecture Theatry of the Headquarters of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), in La Laguna, by the Deputy Director of the IAC, Carlos Martínez Roger, who welcomed all the participants. There followed short introductory talks by Julia de León and Javier Licandro, the organizers of the School, who are both researchers at the IAC.

As in every year since 1989, the IAC has organized an international meeting with experts in an astrophysical theme of great interes, and in this edition it is the exploration of the Solar System. From 7th to 16th November, there will be a series of classes related to this material given to 50 doctoral students and recent post-docs from all over the world, who can, in this way, share and amplify their knowledge in this field of astrophysics.
