How to get to the Headquarters

The Instituto de Astrofísica is the main headquarters of the IAC and the administrative centre for its International Observatories. The main workplace of most personnel, it is a meeting point for the international astronomical community, a technological research and development institute and a training centre for researches, engineers and technicians. It is also a dynamic centre for educational outreach.

HEADQUARTERS: located at calle Vía Láctea at La Laguna on the island of Tenerife (Spain). The city of La Laguna is 9 km from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the North of the island. Google map

• Map of Tenerife showing routes from the two airports. The routes chosen are those using the best roads or the best signposted. To reach the Observatorio del Teide from the South Airport we recommend the Arafo route.

AIRPORT
Tenerife has two airports: Tenerife Norte (TFN), also known as “Los Rodeos” and  Tenerife Sur (TFS), known as Aeropuerto “Reina Sofía”. Buses and taxis are available from both airports and there are also numerous car hire companies operating from within the terminal buildings.
