The Central Parcsec of Galaxies using High Spatial Resolution Techniques (P/300621)

This portal takes you to the projects conducted by the high spatial resolution group of the IAC.

The primary research of the group focuses on the nuclear region of the nearest galaxies at all activity levels. A major emphasis is being put on active galactic nuclei, and its most external manifestations: jets and hot spots. Very high spatial resolution and the widest possible spectral coverage across the electromagnetic spectrum are the main techniques used by the group to address these investigations. We are also developing IR instrumentation for large telescopes that relay on the use of high spatial resolution techniques for the optical - near IR spectral range.

Our research projects are:

PARSEC: The central parsec of galaxies

PAIS: Optical jets and hot-spots in radio-galaxies

Adaptive optics instrumentation
