Principal microwave instrumentation projects
A Cosmic Microwave Background Polarimeter
Upkeep of the COSMOSOMAS experiment. This instrument works with fossil radiation arriving in the form of microwaves, a kind of light that the human eye cannot see but which is present throughout the Universe. It is currently being adjusted to achieve consistent data quality and improve installation security.
The QUIJOTE (Q-U-I JOint TEnerife) CMB Experiment is a scientific collaboration between the IAC, the Instituto de Fisica de Cantabria, the Departamento de Ingenieria de Comunicaciones (Santander), the Jodrell Bank Observatory (Manchester, UK), the Cavendish Laboratory (Cambridge,UK), and the IDOM company (Spain).
It consists in two telescopes and three instruments dedicated to measure the polarization of the microwave sky in the frequency range between 11 GHz and 42GHz, and at angular scales of 1 degree.
