Description
We present a study of the properties of radial conformal Killing fields (RCKF) in conformally flat space-times, pointing out its interest in kinematical cosmology. i) Robertson-Walker space-times are characterized as those conformally flat metrics admitting a geodesic RCKF. ii) The conformal factor of space-times that admit a RCKF with homogeneous expansion is obtained. iii) The existence of a radial conformal motion with orthogonal 3-spaces of constant sectional curvature is analyzed as a cosmological hypothesis.
