Description
The galaxy group Klemola 13 is composed of at least seven independent members including the starburst galaxy Tol 9. Our analysis using optical/NIR and Ha imaging together with optical spectroscopy suggests that it is interacting with some members of the group. We propose H I observations of Klemola 13 in order to map the distribution and kinematics of the atomic gas throughout the galaxies and look for features that reveal interaction processes. We will estimate the H I and the total dynamical mass of the galaxy members and the group. Radio continuum maps will be used to derive an extinction-free star formation rate. Comparison with Ha flux enable us to estimate the thermal and non-thermal contributions of the radio emission. The Ha emission observed in Tol 9 and its kinematics suggest the presence of an outflow of ionized gas. Therefore, the non-thermal radio continuum flux will be used to estimate the available energy in supernovae and examine whether this would be adequate to drive the Ha outflow. Finally, we will combine all the available multiwavelength data to describe the star-formation history, the dynamical and chemical evolution of this group of galaxies.
