IAC Gender Equality Commission (GEC) has participated in the event "Siete miradas hacia la igualdad" organised by FEMETE on 19th September 2019. The talk titled "Good practices to awaken scientific vocations among girls" was preetned by Natalia Arteaga, engineer at IACTec and member of the GEC.

IAC GENERA Network representative attended the 1st GENERA Network General Assembly held in Hamburg, at DESY Headquarters.

Collaborations

GENERA project and GENERA Network :

  • During 3 years (2015-2018), IAC has participated in the GENERA (Gender Equality Network in European Research Area) project, a European project funded under the Horizon 2020 program that aimed to promote the development of equality plans in Physics research centers. IAC team directly involved in this project was: Alfonso Ruigómez (IP), Monique Gómez (Gestora), Anselmo Sosa (OTRI) and Lydia González (Equality Technique and Implementation Manager of the GENERA project . IAC  Gender Equality Commission supported GENERA project and was involved in many activities, especially in those related to the implementation and monitoring of the II IAC Gender Equality Plan.
  • Within this framework, the IAC organized in October 2017, the "Gender in Physics Day Spain 2017". The meeting took place on October 23 and 24, in La Laguna, with the aim to create a space for exchange, debate and proposals for the promotion of gender equality in Physics, identifying gaps, obstacles and good practices. In parallel with this event, IAC hosted the GENERA Governing Board and Joint Secretary meetings.
  • GENERA project finished in August 2018 with the creation of GENERA Network whose aim is to support, coordinate and improve gender equality policies in physics research organisations in Europe and world-wide. IAC director signed the Memorandum of Understanding to adhere to the network in December 2019.

RIIGTV Tenerife Violeta:

  • In 2015, the IAC signed the agreement to become a member of the "Insular Gender Equality Network Tenerife Violeta" (RIIGTV). This collaboration continues and at present, 3 GEC members represent IAC in this network and participate in the definittion of the 2nd Strategic Framework of Actions in Gender Equality Policies “Tenerife Violeta”promoted by the Island Council of Tenerife (Cabildo Insular de Tenerife).
