Description
The IAC, with the collaboration of the European Commission (Improving Human Research Potential Programme, IHP) and the company Iberia, has organised the XI Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics, from 15 to 26 November, at the Hotel Taburiente, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In this edition of the Winter School, the courses are taught by eight professors who are experts in the formation and evolution of galaxies and who approach the subject from different points of view. There are 70 students from 13 countries who are currently preparing their doctoral thesis, or have recently completed it, on a topic related to that of this School. The courses are completed with visits to the Instituto de Astrofísica, in La Laguna, and to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, in La Palma, and the Teide Observatory, in Tenerife. As in previous years, the academic publisher Cambridge University Press will publish a book with the content of this School.
