On March 13th we kickstarted Zulip for the IAC, a chat for distributed teams, that combines the immediacy of real-time chat with an email threading model (https://zulip.com/). Having reached now 111 users and ~15000 messages, we are organizing this Q&A session to answer any questions you might have about IAC-Zulip, share tips, use cases, etc. While similar tools exist (Slack, Discord, etc.), Zulip has a number of features that make it much more interesting as a communication tool for the IAC, among others: 100% open source software; Cloud Standard Plan free for Research Institutions (i.e. messages don't ever get deleted!); unique "topics" feature that helps keeping conversations together; several interfaces: Web, Desktop (Mac, Linux, Windows), Mobile (ios, Android).
