Tomorrow and next Friday May 26th will start, at IAC Headquarters in La Laguna, the course “Introduction to instrumentation for Earth observation satellites” aimed at students of Engineering and Physics at the University of La Laguna, as well as people working in companies, and those with qualifications in these subjects. Some 40 people will participate in this course, organized by the IAC, whose objective is to offer a global vision of Earth exploration from space, as well as to disseminate information about the activity of IACTEC.

The course will start with an introduction to the basic principles of space projects, as well as a historical perspective and an analysis of current trends in satellite development. As well as getting to know the space environment and its effects on instrumentation the participants will learn how to manage aerospace projects, from their initial design phases to verification and matters related to final quality. Finally they will be shown a practical example, to design a camera for use in space.

The lectures on this course will be given by a specially contracted engineering team, via the training programme for IACTEC of the Cabildo Insular of Tenerife. IACTEC is a zone of public-private collaboration, to give an impulse to the creation of high quality employment and the production of technological products with high added value, and great commercial potential. “This course “explains Pablo Redondo, in charge of the technical side of IACTEC, “is the first programme of training and education of the IACTEC programme within its strategy of knowledge transfer to companies and universities”

IACTEC inicia su andadura apostando por tres líneas de actividad para las cuales el IAC ya dispone de las capacidades clave en disciplinas estratégicas como la óptica, la electrónica, el desarrollo de aplicaciones de software específico y la mecánica de precisión:

IACTEC is starting up working in three lines of activity in which the IAC already has the key capacity in strategic disciplines such as optics, electronics, the development of specific software and precision mechanics:
