  • The Metallicity of Pregalactic Globular Clusters: The Observational Consequences of the First Stars
We explore a scenario in which metal-poor globular clusters (GCs) are enriched by the first supernovae in the universe. If the first stars in a 107 Msolar dark halo were very massive (>180 Msolar), then a pair-instability supernova from a single massive star could produce sufficient iron to enrich 106 Msolar of pristine, primordial gas to [Fe/H]~-2

  • The molecular environment of the pillar-like features in the H ii region G46.5-0.2
At the interface of H ii regions and molecular gas, peculiar structures appear, some of them with pillar-like shapes. Understanding their origin is important for characterizing triggered star formation and the impact of massive stars on the interstellar medium. In order to study the molecular environment and influence of radiation on two pillar

  • The multiperiodicity of the Delta Scuti star BDS 1269A (VW Arietis) from the fifth campaign of STEPHI network in 1993
BDS 1269 is a visual binary system with a Delta Scuti star as the primary (Mechler, 1974) and a normal early F main sequence secondary BDS 1269B (HD 15164). Careful observations concerning the brighter primary in this system BDS 1269A (HD 15165, VW Ari) have been undertaken since its first finding by Mechler in 1974. Besides, an unpublished 8 night

  • The Narrow Line Region of an AGN Sample
Using high-resolution spectra of 8 Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) observed with INT we found that shapes of narrow emission lines indicate very complex structure of the Narrow Line Region (NLR). We resolved, at least two kinematically separated emission regions: (i) one with narrower lines (~100 km/s) with shift that follows cosmological red-shift of

  • The Nature Of Active Asteroids In The Main Belt
Sporadic cometary-like activity has been observed in three asteroids of the main belt (the Main Belt Comets, MBCs, Hsieh and Jewitt 2006, Science, 312, 561): (7968) Elst-Pizarro, 118401 (1999 RE70) and P/2005 U1 (Read). All of them are members of the Themis family. The study of this objects is of fundamental importance to address several

  • The Nature of Close Companions of the BL Lacertae Objects 1ES 0502+675 and 1ES 1440+122
We report on deep radio images and optical spectroscopy of two BL Lac objects that have very close compact companions. The two targets, 1ES 0502+675 and 1ES 1440+122, were selected from the Hubble Space Telescope imaging survey of 110 BL Lacs as candidates for possible gravitational lensing. The new observations clearly demonstrate that the
