  • Revisiting the (V/sigma,epsilon) anisotropy diagram of early-type galaxies using integral-field kinematics
We use integral-field observation of the stellar kinematics obtained with SAURON in combination with Schwarzschild dynamical models to revisit our understanding of the classic (V/sigma,epsilon) anisotropy diagram of early-type galaxies.

  • Revisiting the transits of CoRoT-7b at a lower activity level
The first super-Earth with measured radius discovered was CoRoT-7b and it has opened the new field of rocky exoplanet characterisation. To better understand this interesting system, new observations were taken with the CoRoT satellite. During this run 90 new transits were obtained in the imagette mode. These were analysed together with the previous

  • ROSAT observations of 3C radio-loud sources
The 3CRR sample of radio galaxies and quasars has been cross-correlated with the ROSAT PSPC All-Sky Survey. About 25 per cent of the objects have been detected in the 0.2-2.4 keV range, the large majority being powerful radio and X-ray emitters with a range of X-ray luminosities between 10^44 and 10^46 erg s^-1. The 0.2-2.4 keV spectrum of the

  • Rossiter-McLaughlin Observations of 55 Cnc e
We present Rossiter-McLaughlin observations of the transiting super-Earth 55 Cnc e collected during six transit events between 2012 January and 2013 November with HARPS and HARPS-N. We detect no radial velocity signal above 35 cm s–1 (3σ) and confine the stellar v sin i sstarf to 0.2 ± 0.5 km s–1. The star appears to be a very slow rotator

  • Rotation periods of late-type dwarf stars from time series high-resolution spectroscopy of chromospheric indicators
We determine rotation periods of a sample of 48 late F-type to mid-M dwarf stars using time series high-resolution spectroscopy of the Ca II H&K and H α chromospheric activity indicators. We find good agreement between the rotation periods obtained from each of these two indicators. An empirical relationship between the level of chromospheric

  • Rotational Variability of Asteroid 490 Veritas in the Near-Infrared.
We present rotationally resolved spectra of asteroid 490 Veritas in the near-infrared (NIR) that show interesting differences. Dynamical arguments indicate that 490 Veritas is the main fragment of a recent (8.3 My) asteroidal break-up. We obtained NIR spectra (0.8-2.4 microns) on UT May 11, 2008, using the SpeX instrument on NASA's Infrared
