  • Multi-wavelength landscape of the young galaxy cluster RX J1257.2+4738 at z = 0.866. I. The infrared view
Context. Many studies have shown how galaxy properties (e.g. colours, morphology, star-forming (SF) activity, active galactic nuclei population) change not only with redshift, but also with local galaxy density, revealing the important effect of the stellar/halo mass and the environment in the evolution of galaxies. A detailed analysis of the star

  • Multi-wavelength study of activated asteroid (596) Scheila.
    (596) Scheila is a large primitive asteroid observed with a comet-like apearence last December. We present near-infrared spectra (0.8-2.4 μm) obtained at different rotational phases, covering a whole rotation period of the object after the ejection event, a spectrum in the 2.2-4.0 μm region obtained in 2007, and mid-infrared photometry measured by

  • Multiband Analysis of a Sample of Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxies. II. Spatially Resolved and Integrated Photometry
This is the second in a series of papers devoted to the study of a sample of 28 blue compact dwarf galaxies (BCDs). In the first paper, we presented the broadband observations in B, V, R, and I. Deep contour maps, surface-brightness profiles, and color profiles were used to analyze and discuss their morphology and structure. Here, we present new U

  • Multiband photometry of asteroid 596 Scheila after its December 2011 outburst
An unexpected dust cloud was identified around asteroid 596 Scheila on early December 2010 [1]. Our team has been monitoring its photometric behavior in order to get clues on the nature of the outburst, and the obtained results support that the dust cloud was generated by an impact as recently suggested [2].

  • Multidimensional statistical analysis using artificial neural networks - Astronomical applications
We present a new method based on artificial neural networks trained with multiseed backpropagation, for displaying an n-dimensional distribution in a projected space of one, two, or three dimensions. As principal component analysis (PCA) the proposed method is useful for extracting information on the structure of the data set, but unlike the PCA

  • Multilevel Line Transfer with the Implicit Integral Method
Once the need for an iterative procedure in order to solve the problem of the formation of spectral lines in the case of a model atom with many energy levels, the sequel is to seek for the most effective form of such an iterative scheme. It is an almost universal is assumed within all the iterative methods for the solution of those radiative
