  • Far-infrared constraints on the contamination by dust-obscured galaxies of high-z dropout searches
The spectral energy distributions (SED) of dusty galaxies at intermediate redshift may look similar to very high-redshift galaxies in the optical/near infrared (NIR) domain. This can lead to the contamination of high-redshift galaxy searches based on broad-band optical/NIR photometry by lower redshift dusty galaxies because both kind of galaxies

  • Faint emission lines in planetary nebulae with a [WC] nucleus
We present first results from the analysis of a sample of 14 planetary nebulae with [WC] nucleus with detected faint carbon and oxygen recombination lines (RLs). The results are based on deep echelle spectra obtained with MIKE on the 6.5 m Magellan-Clay telescope in Chile.

  • Evolution of the NIR Morphologies of Disk Galaxies since z˜1: A `Glance' into GOODS-South with HST-WFC3
Hereby we present an exploratory study of the surface brightness radial profiles (μ-r profiles hereafter) of massive (M˜>109.5 M&sun;) disk galaxies in the redshift range 0 ˜ z ˜ 1. We use recently acquired images from HST-WFC3 in the H160 band, and archive data from SDSS-DR7, to trace the rest-frame z' band at all redshifts. The comparison of

  • Evolution of Super Star Cluster Winds with Strong Cooling
We study the evolution of super star cluster winds driven by stellar winds and supernova explosions. Time-dependent rates at which mass and energy are deposited into the cluster volume, as well as the time-dependent chemical composition of the re-inserted gas, are obtained from the population synthesis code Starburst99. These results are used as

  • EURONEAR—Recovery, follow-up and discovery of NEAs and MBAs using large field 1-2 m telescopes
We report on the follow-up and recovery of 100 program NEAs, PHAs and VIs using the ESO/MPG 2.2 m, Swope 1 m and INT 2.5 m telescopes equipped with large field cameras. The 127 fields observed during 11 nights covered 29 square degrees. Using these data, we present the incidental survey work which includes 558 known MBAs and 628 unknown moving
