  • The bright galaxy population of five medium redshift clusters. II. Quantitative galaxy morphology
Aims: Following the study presented in our previous paper, based on the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) sample, which consists of five clusters of galaxies within the redshift range 0.18 ≤ z ≤ 0.25 imaged in the central 0.5-2 Mpc in very good seeing conditions, we have studied the quantitative morphology of their bright galaxy population Methods: We

  • SY Cnc, a case for unstable mass transfer?
Intermediate-resolution (0.5-1 Å) optical spectroscopy of the cataclysmic variable (CV) SY Cnc reveals the spectrum of the donor star. Our data enable us to resolve the orbital motion of the donor and provide a new orbital solution, binary mass ratio and spectral classification. We find that the donor star has spectral-type G8 +/- 2 V and orbits

  • Sunspot seismic halos generated by fast MHD wave refraction
Aims: We suggest an explanation for the high-frequency power excess surrounding active regions known as seismic halos. Methods: We use numerical simulations of magneto-acoustic wave propagation in a magnetostatic sunspot model. Results: We propose that seismic halos can be caused by the additional energy injected by high-frequency fast mode waves

  • Spitzer 70 and 160 μm Observations of the COSMOS Field
We present Spitzer 70 and 160 μm observations of the COSMOS Spitzer survey (S-COSMOS). The data processing techniques are discussed for the publicly released products consisting of images and source catalogs. We present accurate 70 and 160 μm source counts of the COSMOS field and find reasonable agreement with measurements in other fields and with
