  • SDSS WD main-sequence binaries (Rebassa-Mansergas+, 2007)
We present a detailed analysis of 101 white dwarf main-sequence binaries (WDMS) from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) for which multiple SDSS spectra are available. (2 data files).

  • Revisiting the formation history of the minor-axis dust lane galaxy NGC 1947
In this paper, we present a detailed study of the peculiar early-type galaxy NGC 1947. The main goal of this work is to constrain the dynamical status and the formation history of NGC 1947 by comparing the observed properties with the predictions derived from different galaxy formation scenarios. To this aim, we derived the photometric and

  • Quasifission and fusion-fission in reactions with massive nuclei: Comparison of reactions leading to the Z=120 element
The yields of evaporation residues, fusion-fission, and quasifission fragments in the Ca48+Sm144,154 and O16+W186 reactions are analyzed in the framework of the combined theoretical method based on the dinuclear system concept and advanced statistical model. The measured yields of evaporation residues for the Ca48+Sm154 reaction can be well

  • Post common envelope binaries from SDSS. IV. SDSS J121258.25-012310.1, a new eclipsing system
From optical photometry we show that SDSS J121258.25-012310.1 is a new eclipsing, post common-envelope binary with an orbital period of 8.06 h and an eclipse length of 23 min. We observed the object over 11 nights in different bands and determined the ephemeris of the eclipse to HJDmid = 2 454 104.7086(2) + 0.3358706(5) × E, where numbers in

  • Polarization of ultra-cool dwarfs
Ultra-cool dwarfs with effective temperatures between ~1400 K and ~2200 K are known to have dusty atmospheres. Asymmetries of the dwarf surface may arise from rotationally-induced flattening and dust-cloud coverage, and may result in non-zero linear polarisation through dust scattering. Here we present our linear polarimetric imaging measurements

  • Polarimetric observations of a sample of Compact Steep-Spectrum sources
Measurements of the polarised emission from Compact Steep-Spectrum (CSS) sources can give important information about the physical conditions inside and around the region of radio emission, essentially on the Narrow Line Region. We have observed the sample of CSS sources constructed by Fanti et al. (1990) with the Effelsberg 100-m radio telescope
