  • GRB neutrino search with MAGIC
The Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov (MAGIC) telescope was designed for the detection of photon sources >~50 GeV. The measurement of highly-inclined air showers renders possible the search for high-energy neutrinos, too. Only neutrinos can traverse the Earth without interaction, and therefore, events close to the horizon can be identified

  • GRB 070610: Flares from a peculiar Galactic source
The majority of bright gamma-ray transients that we observe in the sky, are produced by extragalactic gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). However, we know that there are other kinds of sources that can produce intense bursts of high-energy photons within our own Galaxy. GRB 070610/Swift J195509+261406, being just 1 degree away from the Galactic plane, is one

  • Error propagation in polarimetric demodulation
The polarization analysis of light is typically carried out using modulation schemes. The light of an unknown polarization state is passed through a set of known modulation optics, and a detector is used to measure the total intensity passing the system. The modulation optics is modified several times, and, with the aid of several such measurements
