  • Stellar Populations and Kinematics of Red Galaxies at z > 2: Implications for the Formation of Massive Galaxies
We recently identified a substantial population of galaxies at z>2 with comparatively red rest-frame optical colors. These distant red galaxies (DRGs) are efficiently selected by the simple observed color criterion Js-Ks>2.3. In this paper we present near-infrared spectroscopy with Keck NIRSPEC of six DRGs with previously measured redshifts 2.4

  • Stellar Coronal Chemical Composition: Chandra analysis of 44i Boo and VW Cep
We present an analysis of high resolution Chandra spectra of the contact binaries 44i Boo and VW Cep in order to examine the chemical composition of their coronae. The emerging pattern of coronal abundances in different stars is of a general trend in which low activity stars exhibit a solar-like FIP effect that is seen to gradually reverse itself

  • Spectra, Flares, and Mass Loss from the dMe star, Ross 154
We present results from a Chandra observation of Ross 154, a nearby (2.93 pc) flaring M dwarf (M4.5Ve). During the 57-ksec ACIS-S exposure, a very large flare occurred in which the counting rate increased by over a factor of 100, with an even larger increase in total X-ray power. For the earlier part of the lightcurve, we analyze photon arrival

  • Proper Motions and Velocity Asymmetries in the RW Aur Jet
We present adaptive optics spectro-imaging observations of the RW Aur jet in optical forbidden lines, at an angular resolution of 0.4″. Comparison with HST data taken 2 yr later shows that proper motions in the blueshifted and redshifted lobes are in the same ratio as their radial velocities, a direct proof that the velocity asymmetry in this jet
