  • Study of the properties and spectral energy distributions of the Herbig AeBe stars HD 34282 and HD 141569
We present a study of the stellar parameters, distances and spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of HD 34282 and HD 141569, two pre-main sequence Herbig AeBe stars. Both objects have been reported to show ``anomalous positions'' in the HR diagram in the sense that they appear below the main sequence. A significant result of this work is that both

  • Short and long period variable stars in the Carina dwarf Spheroidal galaxy
We present first results concerning the detection of variable stars in the Carina dwarf Spheroidal from B, V images collected with the 4-m CTIO telescope. We show a sample of candidate variables spanning from the tip of the Red Giant Branch down to the Main Sequence turn off. Finally, we discuss the future photometric and spectroscopic developments

  • Novel Opportunities for EW Breaking from Low-Scale SUSY Breaking
In supersymmetric scenarios with a low scale of SUSY breaking [sqrt{F}=O(TeV)] the conventional MSSM Higgs sector can be substantially modified, mainly because the Higgs potential contains additional effective quartic terms. The Higgs spectrum can be dramatically changed, and the lightest state can be much heavier than in usual SUSY scenarios

  • Nitrogen abundances in planet-harbouring stars
We present a detailed spectroscopic analysis of nitrogen abundances in 91 solar-type stars, 66 with and 25 without known planetary mass companions. All comparison sample stars and 28 planet hosts were analysed by spectral synthesis of the near-UV NH band at 3360 Å observed at high resolution with the VLT/UVES, while the near-IR N I 7468 Å was
