  • Brightening of WZ Sge
We report on a sudden brightening of the dwarf nova WZ Sge during decline from outburst (cf. IAUC #7669, IAUC #7670). The observations were made with the 0.82-m IAC80 telescope at Teide Observatory (Tenerife, Spain). The object has risen approximately two magnitudes, and CCD photometry gives B=11.33 +/- 0.01 and R=11.09 +/- 0.01 (August 21.875 UT)

  • B1359+154: A Six-Image Lens Produced by a z ~= 1 Compact Group of Galaxies
Hubble Space Telescope (HST) V- and I-band observations show that the gravitational lens B1359+154 consists of six images of a single zs=3.235 radio source and its star-forming host galaxy, produced by a compact group of galaxies at zl~=1. Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations at 1.7 GHz strongly support this conclusion, showing six compact

  • Are Microstructures in the Outer Shells of PNe Fossil Condensations of the AGB Wind?
Some planetary nebulae (PNe) show microstructures of low ionization located in their outer regions, i.e. external to the bright rim defined by the fast vs. slow wind interaction region. Morphological and kinematic analysis of some of these PNe show low ionization knots which clearly share the expansion of the outer shell of the host nebulae (e.g

  • A new multi-detector telescope calibration method
A new calibration method, applicable to multidetector telescopes, is presented. This method is based on the comparison between experimental data and the ones obtained from Monte-Carlo simulation. The method just needs a accurate knowledgment of the detector spectrum. To test the method, data obtained in GANIL accelerator, are used. Obtained results

  • A Far-Infrared Study of the CfA Seyfert Sample. I. The Data
We present mid- and far-IR Infrared Space Observatory data of the CfA Seyfert galaxy sample. These data allow a detailed study of the far-IR spectral energy distribution (SED) of these galaxies. A Bayesian inversion method has been used to invert the SED of these objects and to identify three characteristic temperature ranges of dust emission. The
