  • Compositeness and the asymmetries of leptons at the Z^0 peak
We study the effects on the leptonic asymmetries A_{FB}, A_{pol} and A_{LR} coming from a model of compositeness. We consider the effects coming from the self-energies and the vertex correction to $Z l^+ l^-$. Thus we use the Altarelli parametrization of the oblique corrections. We get the asymptotic limits of these corrections in terms of the

  • Common envelope evolution and Li in V471 Tauri.
We have observed the spectral regions around the LiI resonance 670.8nm and subordinate 610.4nm lines of V471 Tau. This is an eclipsing post common-envelope (CE) binary system. A revision of several independent measurements of the parallax and proper motion of V471 Tau allow us to argue that this system is indeed a Hyades cluster member by examining

  • Broad Low-Intensity Wings in the Emission-Line Profiles of Four Wolf-Rayet Galaxies
High-resolution spectroscopic observations have been obtained for the Wolf-Rayet galaxies He 2-10, II Zw 40, POX 4, and Tol 35. Several subregions have been selected in each slit position in order to investigate possible spatial variations in the line profiles, radial velocities, and ionization conditions of the gas. The most remarkable feature of

  • A new strategy for helioseismic inversions
Helioseismic inversion techniques have been revealed as powerful tools for inferring the internal structure and dynamics of the Sun. One of the most popular techniques is Regularized Least Squares. When it is used, it is necessary to define an inversion mesh and a penalty function, without an a priori knowledge of the behaviour of the solution. In

  • A multiwavelength study of LS II+34 26: a hot post-AGB star in the process of becoming a planetary nebula.
We present the results from a multiwavelength analysis of LS II+34 26, recently identified as a low mass post-AGB star and not a massive population I B-type star, as previously thought. We confirm that the central star is a carbon-poor post-AGB star surrounded by a very low excitation and compact nebula. Spectroscopic monitoring carried out since
