  • The Two Micron Galactic Survey.
The Two Micron Galactic Survey (TMGS) is the most sensitive near-infrared large scale survey of the Galactic plane yet attempted. The TMGS has so far covered some 2552 square degrees of sky to a limiting magnitude of mk ≍ +10 and detected some 470000 sources. The majority of these are in the Galactic plane and have no known visible counterparts

  • The Motion of Magnetic Flux Tubes in the Convection Zone and the Subsurface Origin of Active Regions
The rise of kink-unstable magnetic flux tubes through the solar convection zone is discussed with a view to explaining the subsurface origin of active regions. In spite of the advances and insights obtained by analytical and numerical means in the past decade(s), there are still important uncertainties as to the viability of a mechanism of this

  • The giant bubble Hubble III.
This paper presents the results of the authors' study on the giant (radius = 60 pc) extragalactic H II region Hubble III in NGC 6822. Based on the observational results, the physical mechanisms involved in the creation of the morphological structure of this region are discussed.
