Dwarf galaxies are the most common galaxies in the Universe. They are systems believed to consist of matter in a near-primordial state, from which giant galaxies probably form. As such, they are important probes for studying matter in its near-primordial state. In an effort to study the main physical and chemical properties of dwarfs, the present

INTEGRAL observations of the peculiar BeX System SAX J2103.5+4545
We present an INTEGRAL data analysis of the X-ray transient SAX J2103.5+4545 during two outbursts detected in December 2002. The INTEGRAL coordinates and error circle agree with the position of the recently proposed optical counterpart. A power-law plus cut-off model provided a good fit to the 4-150 keV spectrum yielding a photon index of 1.0±0.1

Integral-field kinematics and stellar populations of early-type galaxies out to three half-light radii
We observed 12 nearby H i-detected early-type galaxies (ETGs) of stellar mass ˜1010 M⊙ ≤ M* ≤ ˜1011 M⊙ with the Mitchell Integral-Field Spectrograph, reaching approximately three half-light radii in most cases. We extracted line-of-sight velocity distributions for the stellar and gaseous components. We find little evidence of transitions in the

Interacting binary galaxies. 7: Kinematic data for 12 disturbed ellipticals
We have analyzed long-slit spectroscopic data for a sample of 12 tidally disturbed elliptical galaxies. The spectra were obtained with the Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO) 4 m RC spectrograph. Rotation curves and velocity dispersion profiles have been measured at a variety of position angles in these galaxies and have been used to analyze the

Interferometric Observations of the Hierarchical Triple System Algol
Algol is a triple stellar system consisting of a close semidetached binary orbited by a third object. Due to the disputed spatial orientation of the close pair, the third body perturbation of this pair is a subject of much research. In this study, we determine the spatial orientation of the close pair orbital plane using the CHARA Array, a six
