La Palma signs a commitment to the installation of the Thirty Meter Telescope in the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory

The Island of La Palma has indicated its firm commitment to the implementation of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) project at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (Garafía). The heads of the Cabildo Insular of La Palma, the Town Council of Puntagorda, the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the TMT International Observatory today signed a collaborative agreement which notes the common wish of the parties concerned to give a positive impulse to implement this scientific project on the island.

The agreement was signed by the President of the Cabildo, Anselmo Pestana, who was accompanied by the Councillor for Planning, Gonzalo Pascual; the Mayor of Puntagorda, Vicente Rodriguez, the Director of the IAC Rafael Rebolo, and Baruch Thomas Soifer, representing the TMT International Observatory.
