Infrared photometry of Seyfert 1.8 and 1.9 galaxies

Infrared photometry is reported from 1.25 to 10 micrometers for 10 Seyfert 1.8 and 1.9 galaxies identified by Osterbrock and his collaborators and drawn originally from the Markarian lists. The three objects whose infrared colors are the most nonstellar in nature are objects whose ultraviolet or optical spectra preclude heavy reddening of either the nonstellar continuum or the broad-line region. For the remaining Seyfert 1.8 and 1.9 galaxies, the near-infrared colors are dominated by starlight, distinctly different from the nonstellar colors typical of Seyfert 1 galaxies. Although nonstellar 10-micrometer emission is observed for a number of the Seyfert 1.8 and 1.9 galaxies, in no case does it dominate the near infared luminosity, in contrast to the Seyfert 1 galaxies where this is frequently the case.
