Description
The authors present ISOLWS spectra of 5 giant H II region in the spiral galaxy M101. The data, not yet fully reduced, were taken by using the medium resolution line AOT LWSO2, with wavelengths centered at the [O III] lines at 51.7 and 88.3 microns and the [N III] at 57.3 microns. These observations form part of an ISO guaranteed time project aimed at investigating the parameters that control the formation of stars in stellar systems. The ISO observations of a selected sample of H II regions in external nearby galaxies, by means of the ISOPHOT and ISOLWS focal plane instruments, will hold in a much larger database containing both optical and near infrared images and spectra accumulated in the last years, using the CCI international project at the Canarian Observatories.
