  • A quartet of black holes and a missing duo: probing the low end of the MBH-σ relation with the adaptive optics assisted integral-field spectroscopy
We present mass estimates of supermassive black holes in six nearby fast rotating early-type galaxies (NGC 4339, NGC 4434, NGC 4474, NGC 4551, NGC 4578, and NGC 4762) with effective stellar velocity dispersion around 100 km s-1. We use near-infrared laser-guide adaptive optics observations with the GEMINI/NIFS to derive stellar kinematics in the

  • A lower limit to the accretion disc radius in the low-luminosity AGNNGC 1052 derived from high-angular resolution data
We investigate the central sub-arcsec region of the low-luminosity active galactic nucleusNGC 1052, using a high-angular resolution data set that covers 10 orders of magnitude in frequency. This allows us to infer the continuum emission within the innermost ˜17 pc around the black hole to be of non-thermal, synchrotron origin and to set a limit to

  • A 15.7-minAM CVn binary discovered in K2
We present the discovery of SDSS J135154.46-064309.0, a short-period variable observed using 30-mincadence photometry in K2 Campaign 6. Follow-up spectroscopy and high-speed photometry support a classification as a new member of the rare class of ultracompact accreting binaries known as AM CVn stars. The spectroscopic orbital period of 15.65 ± 0.12

  • 3D Asymmetrical motions of the Galactic outer disc with LAMOST K giant stars
We present a three dimensional velocity analysis of Milky Way disc kinematics using LAMOST K giant stars and the GPS1 proper motion catalogue. We find that Galactic disc stars near the anticentre direction (in the range of Galactocentric distance between R = 8 and 13 kpc and vertical position between Z = -2 and 2 kpc) exhibit asymmetrical motions

  • ERUPTIVE PHENOMENA IN THE SOLAR ATMOSPHERE: RADIATION-MHD MODELING AND CODE DEVELOPMENT
A bewildering variety of eruptive and ejective phenomena continually take place in the solar atmosphere on a wide range of space and time scales. Particular attention was devoted in the past decades to those associated with the reconnection of magnetic field lines of separate plasma systems that come into contact in the atmosphere, especially when
