  • The water ice rich surface of (145453) 2005 RR43: a case for a carbon-depleted population of TNOs?
Context: Recent results suggest that there is a group of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) (2003 EL{61} being the biggest member), with surfaces composed of almost pure water ice and with very similar orbital elements. These objects provide exciting laboratories for the study of the processes that prevent the formation of an evolved mantle of organics

  • The Stellar Structures around Disk Galaxies
We present a brief summary of current results on the stellar distribution and population gradients in disk galaxies, and discuss future prospects of follow-up imaging and spectroscopic research using the GTC with OSIRIS & EMIR.

  • The spherical collapse model with shell-crossing
In this work, we study the formation and evolution of dark matter haloes by means of the spherical infalling model with shell-crossing. We present a framework to tackle this effect properly based on the numerical follow-up, with time, of that individual shell of matter that contains always the same fraction of mass with respect to the total mass

  • The OTELO Project
OSIRIS is the Spanish Day One instrument for the GTC 10.4-m telescope. OSIRIS is a general purpose instrument for imaging, low-resolution long slit and multi-object spectroscopy (MOS). OSIRIS has a field of view of 8.6×8.6 arcminutes, which makes it ideal for deep surveys, and operates in the optical wavelength range from 365 through 1000nm. The

  • The Hα nature of the Universe at z ˜ 0.83
We present here the results of a survey searching for current-star forming galaxies at at z ˜ 0.83. Objects are selected by their emission in the Hα line through the narrow band filter technique.
