  • Fitting of supernovae without dark energy
With data from Pantheon, we have at our disposal a sample of more than a 1000 supernovae Ia covering a wide range of redshifts with good precision. Here, we make fits to the corresponding Hubble-Lemaître diagram with various cosmological models, with intergalactic extinction, evolution of the luminosity of supernovae, and redshift components due to

  • First measurements and upgrade plans of the MAGIC intensity interferometer
The two MAGIC 17-m diameter Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes have been equipped to work also as an intensity interferometer with a deadtime-free, 4-channel, GPU-based, real-time correlator. Operating with baselines between ∼40 and 90 m the MAGIC interferometer is able to measure stellar diameters of 0.5 - 1 mas in the 400-440 nm wavelength

  • First light of NIRPS, the near-infrared adaptive-optics assisted high resolution spectrograph for the ESO 3.6m
NIRPS is an infrared precision Radial Velocity (pRV) spectrograph covering the range 950 nm-1800 nm. NIRPS uses a high-order Adaptive Optics (AO) system to couple the starlight into a fiber corresponding to 0.4" on the sky as efficiently or better than HARPS or ESPRESSO couple the light in a 1.0" fiber. This allows the spectrograph to be very

  • Final design of the GTC laser guide star wavefront sensor
The Laser Guide Star Facility (LGSF) of GTC will generate a laser guide star (LGS) in the high atmosphere for the GTC Adaptive Optics System (GTCAO) to measure and correct the effect of the atmospheric turbulence. The GTCAO LGS Wavefront Sensor (LWS) will be based on a Shack Hartmann WFS and placed on the GTCAO optical bench, where the Natural

  • Extragalactic observatory science with the ASTRI mini-array at the Observatorio del Teide
The ASTRI Mini-Array is a next-generation system of nine imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes that is going to be built at the Observatorio del Teide site. After a first phase, in which the instrument will be operated as an experiment prioritizing a schedule of primary science cases, an observatory phase is foreseen in which other significant
