  • Annoying neighbours: black hole feedback beyond the central host galaxy
Black hole feedback results from the energy radiated at parsec scales from the centers of massive galaxies. Yet, this process is energetic enough to regulate the evolution of the host galaxy itself. We present here observational evidence suggesting that, in the most massive halos, black hole feedback from the central galaxy is able to drive the

  • An ionised bubble before the epoch of recombination
A proto-cluster of Lyα emitting galaxies, spectroscopically confirmed at redshift 6.5, produces a remarkable number of ionising continuum photons. We find that the sources in the proto-cluster are capable of ionising a large bubble, indeed larger than the volume occupied by the proto-cluster.

  • An extensive spectroscopic time series of three Wolf-Rayet stars - II. A search for wind asymmetries in the dust-forming WC7 binary WR137
We present the results of a 4-month, spectroscopic campaign of the Wolf-Rayet dust-making binary, WR137. We detect only small-amplitude random variability in the C III λ5696 emission line and its integrated quantities (radial velocity, equivalent width, skewness, and kurtosis) that can be explained by stochastic clumps in the wind of the WC star

  • A White Dwarf with Transiting Circumstellar Material Far outside the Roche Limit
We report the discovery of a white dwarf exhibiting deep, irregularly shaped transits, indicative of circumstellar planetary debris. Using Zwicky Transient Facility DR2 photometry of ZTF J013906.17+524536.89 and follow-up observations from the Las Cumbres Observatory, we identify multiple transit events that recur every ≍107.2 days, much longer

  • A WEAVE-Cygnus HR: an exploration of Cygnus-X
We present our project to explore the stellar content of the nearest Milky Way massive star forming región, Cygnus-X. The main aim (but not the only one) is to understand the formation and evolution of single and multiple massive stars. Using the new WEAVE multifiber spectrograph attached to the 4.2-m WHT and within the SCIP survey we will secure

  • A trimodality in the distribution of star formation in galactic bars
We report a trimodal behaviour of the spatial distribution of ionised gas within bars in the S 4G survey, in which star-forming bars are most common among late-type galaxies. We use archival GALEX far- and near-UV imaging for 772 barred galaxies and a compilation of 433 continuum-subtracted Hα images. We use both stacking techniques and visual
