Descripción
CCD surface photometry of the radio galaxy B2 0034+25 is reported. Fourier analysis of the intensity variations along a set of closely spaced elliptical contours fitted to the intensity distribution reveals a high positive cos 4-theta component in the inner 10 arcsecs. Subtraction of elliptical models of the stellar light shows the presence of a disk component at approximately a right angle to the axis of the radio jet. The warped structure of the disk suggests that it is settling into a preferred orientation along the major axis of the main galaxy. The morphology of the system as the result of a merging process and the role of the stellar disk in the collimation of the radio plasma are discussed.
