  • Integral Field Spectroscopy of Markarian 273: Mapping High-Velocity Gas Flows and an Off-Nucleus Seyfert 2 Nebula
Integral field optical spectroscopy with the INTEGRAL fiber-based system is used to map the extended ionized regions and gas flows in Mrk 273, one of the closest ultraluminous infrared galaxies. The Hβ and [O III] λ5007 maps show the presence of two distinct regions separated by 4" (3.1 kpc) along position angle (P.A.) 240 deg. The northeastern

  • Circumnuclear Star-Forming Regions in Barred Galaxies
We present high-resolution Hα velocity fields and rotation curves of the circumnuclear star-forming regions of five barred galaxies. Two of the five objects show substantially smaller initial rises than the three others; these two objects also have spiral structure inside the circumnuclear star-forming ring.

  • Cross-Correlation of Tenerife Data with Galactic Templates-Evidence for Spinning Dust?
The recent discovery of dust-correlated diffuse microwave emission has prompted two rival explanations: free-free emission and spinning dust grains. We present new detections of this component at 10 and 15 GHz by the switched-beam Tenerife experiment. The data show a turnover in the spectrum and thereby support the spinning dust hypothesis. We also

  • The Optical Properties of the Host Galaxies of FR I and FR II Radio Sources
The two Fanaroff & Riley classes of radio galaxies are defined by radio morphology, and the distinction may arise from a combination of environmental conditions and central engine power. Several studies have suggested that powerful, FR II, radio galaxies are on average 0.5 mag fainter optically (i.e., are smaller) than weak, FR I, radio galaxies

  • Time Series of Solar Granulation Images. III. Dynamics of Exploding Granules and Related Phenomena
The evolution of exploding granules is studied by using a spatially as well as temporally highly resolved time series of white-light images of 80 minute duration. The results of this study show that the dynamics of exploding granules is strongly affected by their surroundings and that their appearance is closely related to the mesogranular flow
