  • Kepler-77b: a very low albedo, Saturn-mass transiting planet around a metal-rich solar-like star⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆
We report the discovery of Kepler-77b (alias KOI-127.01), a Saturn-mass transiting planet in a 3.6-day orbit around a metal-rich solar-like star. We combined the publicly available Kepler photometry (quarters 1-13) with high-resolution spectroscopy from the Sandiford at McDonald and FIES at NOT spectrographs. We derived the system parameters via a

  • Kinematic measurements of gas and stars in spiral galaxies
In this article we first give a brief historically based survey of kinematic observations, essentially of rotation curves, of spiral galaxies produced as techniques have advanced and new wavelength ranges have opened up. We then describe the basic inferences from kinematic measurements relevant to galactic structure: the rotational velocity and the

  • Kinematical studies of the low-mass X-ray binary GRMus (XB1254-690)
We present simultaneous high-resolution optical spectroscopy and X-ray data of the X-ray binary system GRMus (XB1254-690), obtained over a full range of orbital phases. The X-ray observations are used to re-establish the orbital ephemeris for this source. The optical data include the first spectroscopic detection of the donor star in this system

  • Ks Number Counts in the Groth and Coppi Fields
We have used William Herschel Telescope/INGRID Ks images on two high-latitude fields, the Coppi and Groth strips, to obtain galaxy number counts over ~180 arcmin2, to a depth of Ks~21.0. Detection efficiency corrections as a function of object size have been calculated on each pointing. We have used a signal-to-noise threshold in two complementary

  • Lamost Observations in the Kepler Field. I. Database of Low-resolution Spectra
The nearly continuous light curves with micromagnitude precision provided by the space mission Kepler are revolutionizing our view of pulsating stars. They have revealed a vast sea of low-amplitude pulsation modes that were undetectable from Earth. The long time base of Kepler light curves allows for the accurate determination of the frequencies
