Solar-like oscillations in red-giant stars are now commonly detected in thousands of stars with space telescopes such as NASA Kepler mission. Yet, most stars are too faint for light-demanding ground-based complementary techniques. Since 2017, we are observing the bright red giant Aldebaran simultaneously with the BRITE-satellites in two colors while jointly monitoring the radial-velocity variations of this target with the 1m-SONG telescope on Tenerife. Amplitude ratios and phase differences, derived from parallel radial velocity and photometric measurements allow us to better understand the physics governing the amplitudes of solar-like oscillators and probe the outermost layers of the stellar atmosphere that even with classical seismology are challenging to probe. It also gives us the opportunity to study intrinsic, astrophysical signals that are leading to spurious planet detections.

In this talk, we discuss the first results from the multi-telescope observing campaign and present a re-evaluation of the suspected planetary Jupiter-like companion. Furthermore, the first results from similar SONG monitoring of targets from the ongoing NASA TESS mission.
