  • Sub-gigayear variability around the star formation main sequence and its contribution to the scatter
Aims. We aim to measure the evolution of individual galaxies around the star formation main sequence (SFMS) during the last gigayear as a function of their stellar mass to quantify how much of its scatter is due to short-term variability. Methods. We derived star formation histories using full spectral fitting for a sample of 8960 galaxies from the

  • Spider-webb: Spatially Resolved Evidence of Inside-out Quenching in the Spiderweb Protocluster at z ∼ 2
We present a spatially resolved analysis of galaxy quenching within the Spiderweb Protocluster at z ∼ 2.16, combining deep imaging from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Hubble Space Telescope. Utilizing pixel-by-pixel spectral energy distribution fitting, we derive maps of stellar mass, star formation rate (SFR), specific SFR (sSFR)

  • Spectral evolution of hot hybrid white dwarfs: II. Photometry
We present a photometric analysis of 19 DA and 13 DAO white dwarfs (WDs) with effective temperatures exceeding 60 000 K, building on the spectral analysis reported in the first paper of this two-part study. By examining archival light curves for periodic signals, we identify that four of the 32 objects (13 −4 +8%) exhibit photometric variability

  • Spatially resolved stellar populations of thick disks: insights from the GECKOS survey
Recent JWST high-redshift observations have shown that galaxies initially formed their thicker stellar disk components. Their properties already exhibited diversity, seeding the wide variety of properties observed in the local universe. Integral-field spectroscopy (IFS) studies have revealed diverse stellar populations in nearby thick disks of

  • SN 2024aecx: A Fast-evolving Type IIb Supernova with a Prominent Shock-cooling Peak
SN 2024aecx is a nearby (∼11 Mpc) Type IIb SN discovered within ∼1 day after explosion. In this paper we report high-cadence photometric (typically 0.5 ∼ 1 day) and spectroscopic follow-up observations, conducted from as early as 0.27 day post discovery out to the nebular phase at 158.4 days. We analyze the environment of SN 2024aecx and derive a

  • Silicate emission in a type-2 quasar: JWST/MIRI constraints on torus geometry and radiative feedback
Type-2 quasars (QSO2s) are active galactic nuclei (AGN) seen through a significant amount of dust and gas that obscures the central supermassive black hole and the broad line region. Despite this, recent mid-infrared spectra of the central 0.5─1.1 kpc of five QSO2s at z ∼ 0.1, obtained with the MRS module of JWST/MIRI, revealed 9.7, 18, and 23 μm
