  • An optical transmission spectrum of the giant planet WASP-36 b
We present broad-band photometry of five transits in the planetary system WASP-36, totalling 17 high-precision light curves. Four of the transits were simultaneously observed in four passbands (g', r', i', z'), using the telescope-defocusing technique, and achieving scatters of less than 1 mmag per observation. We used these data to improve the

  • A "high-hard" outburst of the black hole X-ray binary GS 1354-64
In the shadows of the V404 Cyg outburst in the summer of 2015, GS 1354-64 (BW Cir) went into outburst as well. We followed the evolution of the outburst at optical, UV and X-ray wavelengths using Faulkes Telescope South, SMARTS and Swift. The outburst was found to stay in the hard X-ray state, albeit being anomalously luminous with a peak X-ray

  • Variable Stars in the Field of the Hydra II Ultra-faint Dwarf Galaxy
We report the discovery of one RR Lyrae star in the ultra-faint satellite galaxy Hydra II based on time series photometry in the g, r and i bands obtained with the Dark Energy Camera at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, Chile. The association of the RR Lyrae star discovered here with Hydra II is clear because is located at 42\prime\prime

  • Tracking Advanced Planetary Systems (TAPAS) with HARPS-N. IV. TYC 3667-1280-1: The most massive red giant star hosting a warm Jupiter
Context. We present the latest result of the TAPAS project that is devoted to intense monitoring of planetary candidates that are identified within the PennState-Toruń planet search. Aims: We aim to detect planetary systems around evolved stars to be able to build sound statistics on the frequency and intrinsic nature of these systems, and to

  • Tracing Helioseismic Waves from the Photosphere to the Corona
Can p-mode waves in sunspots propagate to the chromosphere and the corona? And what are their counterparts in different atmospheric heights? In order to study the connection between the photospheric p-mode waves and the waves observed above the photosphere, we use a helioseismic analysis technique, namely time-distance helioseismology, and analyze

  • The Veritas and Themis asteroid families: 5-14 μm spectra with the Spitzer Space Telescope
Spectroscopic investigations of primitive asteroid families constrain family evolution and composition and conditions in the solar nebula, and reveal information about past and present distributions of volatiles in the solar system. Visible and near-infrared studies of primitive asteroid families have shown spectral diversity between and within
