  • Magnetic fields in planetary nebulae and post-AGB nebulae
Magnetic fields are an important but largely unknown ingredient of planetary nebulae. They have been detected in oxygen-rich asymptotic giant branch (AGB) and post-AGB stars, and may play a role in the shaping of their nebulae. Here we present SCUBA submillimetre polarimetric observations of four bipolar planetary nebulae and post-AGB stars

  • Light curve of HD 172189 (Costa+, 2007)
The reduced photometric data of HD 172189 are provided. The original data were obtained from the XIII STEPHI campaign carried out between 7-28 June 2004 by three observatories: Observatorio del Teide (Izana, Tenerife, Spain), Observatorio Astronomico Nacional de San Pedro Martir (Baja California, Mexico) and Xinglong Station of the Beijing

  • INTEGRAL and RXTE Observations of the Be/X-ray Binary EXO 2030+375
During INTEGRAL's Performance and Verification phase (December 2002) a type-I outburst of the Be/X-ray binary EXO 2030+375 was detected. A pulse period of 41.691798±0.000016 s was found, and the ] luminosity in the 5-300 keV energy range was 9.7×10^{36} erg s^{-1} for a distance of 7.1 kpc. Two unusual features were found in the light curve, with

  • First Bounds on the Very High Energy γ-Ray Emission from Arp 220
Using the Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cerenkov Telescope (MAGIC), we have observed the nearest ultraluminous infrared galaxy, Arp 220, for about 15 hr. No significant signal was detected within the dedicated amount of observation time. The first upper limits to the very high energy γ-ray flux of Arp 220 are herein reported and compared with

  • Estimation of Galactic model parameters in high latitudes with 2MASS
Context: In general, studies focused on the Milky Way's structure show a range of values when deriving different Galactic parameters, such as radial scalelengths, vertical scaleheights, or local space densities. Those values are also dependent on the Galactic coordinates under consideration for the corresponding analysis, as a direct consequence of
