  • The ultracool helium-atmosphere white dwarf companion of PSR J0740+6620?
We report detection of the likely companion of the binary millisecond pulsar (MSP) J0740+6620 with the Gran Telescopio Canarias in the r' and i' bands. The position of the detected starlike source coincides with the pulsar coordinates within the 1σ uncertainty of ≈0.2 arcsec. Its magnitudes are r' = 26.51 ± 0.17 and i' = 25.49 ± 0.15. Comparing the

  • The Transiting Multi-planet System HD15337: Two Nearly Equal-mass Planets Straddling the Radius Gap
We report the discovery of a super-Earth and a sub-Neptune transiting the star HD 15337 (TOI-402, TIC 120896927), a bright (V = 9) K1 dwarf observed by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) in Sectors 3 and 4. We combine the TESS photometry with archival High Accuracy Radial velocity Planet Searcher spectra to confirm the planetary

  • The signal of decaying dark matter with hydrodynamical simulations
Dark matter particles may decay, emitting photons. Drawing on the EAGLE family of hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy formation - including the APOSTLE and C-EAGLE simulations - we assess the systematic uncertainties and scatter on the decay flux from different galaxy classes, from Milky Way satellites to galaxy clusters, and compare our results

  • The PDS 110 observing campaign - photometric and spectroscopic observations reveal eclipses are aperiodic
PDS 110 is a young disc-hosting star in the Orion OB1A association. Two dimming events of similar depth and duration were seen in 2008 (WASP) and 2011 (KELT), consistent with an object in a closed periodic orbit. In this paper, we present data from a ground-based observing campaign designed to measure the star both photometrically and

  • The Most Powerful Lenses in the Universe: Quasar Microlensing as a Probe of the Lensing Galaxy
We describe how quasar microlensing is the only way to determine the dark/stellar ratio at the interesting sub-galactic scales of several kpc and how it is the only way to measure the stellar M/L outside the solar neighborhood. Both can be done as a function of redshift, and this requires sub-arcsecond X-ray imaging of LSST-discovered lenses.

  • The metallicity-period-mass diagram of low-mass exoplanets
The number of exoplanet detections continues to grow following the development of better instruments and missions. Key steps for the understanding of these worlds comes from their characterization and statistical studies. We explore the metallicity-period-mass diagram for known exoplanets by using an updated version of The Stellar parameters for
