Cosmología y Astropartículas (CYA)

Cosmología

Estudiar la física del Universo Temprano y de las ondas gravitacionales primordiales mediante mediciones del Fondo Cósmico de Microondas. En este contexto, nuestro grupo participa en varios proyectos clave en la frontera del campo: la misión Planck de la ESA, el experimento QUIJOTE-CMB, los experimentos GroundBird y LSPE-STRIP, y el espectrómetro de microondas Tenerife (TMS).

Investigar la naturaleza de la energía oscura y su evolución en el tiempo, realizando mapas espectroscópicos masivos del universo lejano. Para ello, el IAC está involucrado en una serie de experimentos (el satélite Planck, los proyectos BOSS, eBOSS, MS-DESI, y el futuro satélite de la ESA Euclid) que arrojarán luz sobre la dinámica específica de la expansión acelerada y la ecuación de estado de esta intrigante energía.

Astropartículas

Estudiar los procesos más violentos del Universo para desvelar el origen y los mecanismos de aceleración de la radiación cósmica a las más altas energías. El grupo del IAC participa en tres grandes colaboraciones: el Espectrómetro Alpha Magnético (AMS) en la Estación Espacial Internacional y los telescopios MAGIC y la futura red CTA-Norte, en el Observatorio Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma).
